I did enjoy this journey - Casas is a champion for students and an advocate that any one at any level can affect positive school culture and positively affect a learner’s school experience.
Although this definitely is a good read for administrators and others in administrative roles (with more positional power and ability to set direction), there are nuggets that I can and do take from it to reflect upon and incorporate as I continue to evolve as a teacher. It is for sure a book that I will recommend to my colleagues, particularly those who want to (or who should) consider formal leadership development.
I really enjoyed this course and felt it provided meaningful insights without needing any major changes. The content was clear, relevant, and easy to connect to my daily work in the classroom. I appreciated the practical strategies, the inspiring stories, and the opportunities for reflection. There wasn’t anything I disliked; I found each section helpful in its own way. I would definitely recommend this book study to a colleague because it offers both encouragement and actionable ideas that can truly impact teaching and school culture.
I enjoyed the course and especially the book. I love the positive, hope-filled tone of the author. I share much of his sentiment and thoughts about how I can apply it to my own life and profession. To not accept average is a key message that resonates with me. I would recommend this book study to a colleague.
I enjoyed this course. As always, I love that the course is self-paced. The book was easy to follow and connect with. I found it to be very uplifting. I would recommend this book study to a colleague.
I enjoyed this book study because it was a positive reinforcer of our roles in education and focused on the positive impact we can make. Often, we are focusing on the negative and I thought the author was insightful, positive and energizing. I would recommend this to others.

I enjoyed this book study more than I thought I would. As a "seasoned" teacher it's easy to just go through the motions and forget that for your students this is all new. I think the reflecting that the author encouraged is very good. I also liked the self-paced aspect. It was easy to divide into small segments and get little bits done here and there. I would recommend this to someone.
I always enjoy these book studies. I like being able to do these at my own pace and be able to reflect on my teaching as well as how can I change/make an impact on my students. I live by the saying that we are life long learners, and we truly are. I'm always willing to try new things and this gives me ideas to try.
I enjoyed this course. I tend to enjoy all of the book studies I have done here. This book helped to rekindle the excitement I have for being an educator. It reminded me why I became a teacher in the first place. It helped me to focus more on the positive aspects of teaching and less on the negative. "Culturize" also gave me so many ideas of how to be a good leader. I would definitely recommend this book study to my colleagues.
I enjoyed this book and found it an easy read. There were many great reminders of why we do what we do each and every day. I would definitely recommend this book study to colleagues. It is a great reminder of our leadership and positivity in the environment and the effect and ideas we can bring to others and our schools.
I not only appreciated the information, I really liked the individual stories about teachers and students. It brings to life what the concepts are and how those concepts can affect the relationship. I took away a lot about trying to stay positive with my students and coworkers and my biggest take away was the 3 Cs (Connection, capability, and confidence).
I did enjoy the book. It talked about alot of things that I already do and that i feel are important as a teacher. I think it also provides glimpses of what it takes to be a good leader. I would definately recommend this course to a colleage.
I would recommend this book study. I like the stories about kids and their struggles and successes. This book helped me think outside the box and look at kids and their lives outside of the standards and curriculum and grades. They have so much more going on and I need to realize that in these kids.
I really enjoyed reading this book and completing this book study. It was a much needed reminder in the midst of state testing what really is important. Our students need us in so many ways that often times goes way beyond academics. This book was an easy read that had a nice flow. The author did a great job of keeping my attention, providing ideas, and made me recognize the things that I am doing successfully while offering suggestions for ways of improvement. Students deserve the best from each of us. We can provide that for them by taking care of our selves and working with our colleagues to provide a well-rounded education for all. I would recommend this book study to anyone!
I really enjoyed this course and this book. The book was easy to read and had a lot of great takeaways that I can apply in my teaching and life. It was a positive book. I also really enjoyed the podcasts. The quizzes and blog posts were a good recap of key takeaways. I did not have anything that I did not like from the course. I love that it is self paced and you have time to complete as you go as life is busy. I plan on completing my next book study "kids these days" really soon and I am looking forward to it since this was a very positive experience.
I really enjoyed this course and found Culturize easy to get into while still being meaningful. It offered real, practical ideas that I can apply right away, especially around relationships and building a positive school culture. I would definitely recommend this book study to a colleague because it encourages both growth and practical change.

Thank you so much for offering this book study. I real like that it is self paced so I can work on it around my other commitments. I also enjoyed reading the book as it included practical ideas that I am excited to implement in my classroom. It also helped me reflect on my teaching and what I can do better. The added TED Talks are great. I have always enjoyed TED Talks and each tied really well to the ideas presented in the book. The book study met my needs nicely so I do not have any recommendations for change as I liked everything about it. This is a great book study and I plan to recommend it to my colleagues. Thank you!
I enjoyed this book study and would recommend it to others. I liked all of the personal stories in the book. Hearing first hand of the experiences of others is beneficial when making changes in how I do things in my own life. I thought the author handled the topic is a very positive way and gave us lots of food for thought. I really enjoyed the list of "what the best teachers do"!

ReplyDeleteWhat didn’t you like about it? More of an administration point of view, but really that wasn't a big deal. Still about leadership
